Maintenance Position

Responsible to: Registered Home Manager

We are looking for a 6-month fixed contract maintenance person starting from 22nd December 2021 to shadow our maintenance man before he leaves early January 2022 on long term sick leave.
The post-holder is responsible for ensuring that the Home, the plant and the equipment within, are maintained to a high standard, and remain fully functional at all times thereby ensuring the comfort, safety and wellbeing of the residents.

Responsibilities in brief are:

  1. The necessary maintenance, repair tasks and defects must be reported and work completed.
  2. Report any defects which are compromising residents’ comfort or resident/staff safety to the Home Manager/Compliance Manager and/or seek specialist repair via nominated external contractors.
  3. The outside of the building, grounds and gardens must be maintained to a high standard of repair and aesthetic condition and remain safe for pedestrian and vehicle access.
  4. Liaise with contractors ensuring, their safe conduct whilst on site, a high-quality workmanship and a value for money service.
  5. Conduct and record all checks as prescribed in the Fire Safety Logbook and manage the file.
  6. Maintain the workshop in an orderly and clean condition and ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and safely secured at all times.
  7. When off duty, be prepared to give advice over the telephone and/or be called out to the Home in emergencies.
  8. Read and record all gas, electric and water meters on a weekly or as requested basis and report the readings to the Home Manager/Administrator.
  9. To decorate rooms and repair items as necessary around the Home

Be aware of and all times comply with all Company rules, policies and procedures, including the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, Care Standards Act and the relevant Regulations

It is a requirement that all new employees have been double COVID-19 vaccinated prior to commencing with Castle House Care Home, that they continue to receive COVID-19 vaccination boosters as required and in accordance with public health guidance throughout their employment with us.
