We believe in attracting the very best people and building a team of caring individuals who love what they do. Our sole aim is to provide exceptional care and wellbeing for all our residents, ensuring that their stay with us is as pleasant as possible – from offering outstanding care and companionship to our residents, to creating delicious restaurant-style meals, all in a homely environment.

At Castle House Care Home, we recruit people who share our values and who strive to make a difference every day. We make sure that these values are clear in everything that we do, whatever the role.

Team Leaders & Carers
Castle House Care Home provides experienced team leaders and care staff within the home 24 hours a day. Residents have a key worker who will devise a plan of care to meet individual needs.
Kitchen
Our Kitchen team prepares fresh food daily in a well-appointed kitchen and caters for a wide range of dietary needs for medical or cultural reasons.
Domestic Services
Our Domestic Services team provides a cleaning and laundry service with an aim to return personal clothing within 24 hours.
Maintenance

Our in house team maintains the property, grounds and provides assistance to our residents. Our team will hang your pictures, change your light bulbs and will also arrange for any repairs or decorating that becomes necessary.

Shelbie Wadge

Home Manager
Shelbie, who was our Senior Team Leader, then Deputy Manager, has now been promoted to Registered Manager. Shelbie has recently completed Leader in Adult Care Level 5 certification. She is a kind and caring person who believes in treating each person as an individual and ensuring that the care delivered is person-centred.

Sue Stone 

Office Manager
Sue was a commercial manager and trained credit controller in Hertfordshire before relocating to Devon in 1993. Sue has extensive office experience and has run the administration since 2010. In February 2025 Sue was promoted to Office Manager. She will now also assist the Home Manager with the day-to-day operations with an emphasis on human resources management

Paris Sturman

Senior Team Leader
Paris started as a care assistant with us, progressing to team leader and promoted to Senior Team Leader in February 2025. She is a kind and caring person ensuring that the care delivered is person centred. Paris is currently doing her Level 3 qualification in health & social care.

Emma Calvin

Activities & Events Lead
Emma joined us in July 2025 and has taken our activities to a high level of entertainment and interest for our residents. She has been a youth worker; has previous experience in media, performing arts and drama working with young offenders.

Sharon Lintott

Head Housekeeper
Sharon who was one of our domestics was promoted to Head Housekeeper in July 2025. She has a passion for keeping the house clean and ensuring that residents laundry is attended to in a timely way

Jemma Howes

Cook
Jemma has been a cook at Castle House for several years having completed her training with us.She helps organise the menu and is willing to vary the menu and follow any residents' requests.Jemma makes fabulous cakes and all residents are made a birthday cake to help them celebrate.

Cathy Jones

Cook
Cathy has recently become one of our cooks after working as a Carer for many years at Castle House. She started in the kitchen as a kitchen assistant but was promoted to cook in May 2025. Everyone looks forward to Cathy's roast dinners!
  • To deliver a service of the highest quality that will improve and sustain the residents’ overall quality of life. In this respect the Care Service is designed to meet the Certification of requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standard (latest edition), but in a people oriented fashion.
  • To ensure that the Care Service is delivered flexibly, attentively and in a non-discriminatory fashion while respecting each residents right to independence, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, and the rights to make informed choices and to take risks.
  • To ensure that each residents’ needs and values are respected in matters of religion, culture, race or ethnic origin, sexuality and sexual orientation, political affiliation, marital status, parenthood and disabilities or impairments.
  • To ensure that the Care Service in whole is delivered in accordance with agreed Contracts for Care.
  • To manage and implement a formal programme of staff planning, selection, recruitment, training and personal development to enable resident care needs to be met.
  • To manage the Care Service efficiently and effectively to make best use of resources and to maximise value for money for the resident.
  • To ensure that all residents’ receive written information on the Home’s Procedure for Handling Complaints, Comments and Compliments and how to use it.
